Don't take it for granted that you live in a World Class City, be part of it!
On Monday 17th to Tuesday 18th July 2017 you will be embarking upon your own challenge to experience some of the city's cultural landmarks. The purpose of which is to help you take learning outside of the classroom and work on projects that will enhance your understanding of your chosen subject, explore British values and support your vocational pathways. Pics from last year can be found here, or at bottom of screen.
The rules are simple: you work individually or in small groups to complete a trail across London (which you choose) and document your findings, either through a blog or your school twitter account with #LondonCCC and images, or as a PowerPoint. Some of your teachers will support you by offering you a specific project that you can complete to develop understanding to aid your A2 studies.
Why do this?
Life should be full of experiences and learning should take place beyond the confines of a classroom. Many of you have started personal statements and highlighted GAPS in your extra-curricular activities, with many of you not visiting appropriate exhibitions, galleries or institutions that can support your broader curriculum or demonstrate a cultural awareness. You are competing against other students who may have had more privileges and experiences than you, and they are more likely to succeed as a result of the culture and confidence this brings.
The London CCC is a great way to fill these gaps and have a positive experience out in London.
Read the following article to get an idea about how much culture there is on our doorstep.

How do I choose a topic?
Look over your personal statement and think about what university courses and subjects you are interested in. Then research what there is in London that you can visit to help you develop your cultural experiences. Using this map:
Plan out a route that you can cover over the two days. Teachers will be based across several cultural locations and you will be given details of how to meet them and check in on the day:
- Camden
- Soho
- BFI - Southbank
- Queen Mary's University London / East London
- Knightsbridge
- Westfield (Stratford)
There will be some other bonus locations highlighted nearer the time when you get your contact sheet. When you get this, you must plan out which teachers you intend to visit so that they know who to expect on each day so you can check in. Failure to check in will result in you being marked absent for the day, this will affect your attendance data. Note: you do not have to arrive in school first.
Now start planning out your two day challenge using your sheet and your map. Your tutor will discuss this with you once it is complete. This must be complete before the 18th July.
